The Short Version
We connect what was already there
South Africa's livestock industry already has farmers, vets, transporters, and abattoirs — and it already has systems they use. What was missing was the connection between them.
Livestock OS is not a replacement for anything. It sits between the existing players and makes sure that when a truck of cattle arrives at an abattoir gate, every certificate has been signed, every animal has been verified, and every step of the chain is on record.
The Chain
How a batch moves
A batch cannot move to the next step unless the current step is complete. The vet hasn't signed? The truck doesn't leave. The VHC isn't in the system? The gate doesn't open. The system enforces the rules so people don't have to argue about them.
Who Uses It
Six portals. One chain.
Farmers
Create batches, register individual animals by ear tag or RFID, prepare for movement.
Vets
Inspect animals and sign the Veterinary Health Certificate electronically. ECTA 2002 compliant.
Transporters
Declare the vehicle, driver, and route. The batch goes IN_TRANSIT and the clock starts.
Gate Operators
Scan the batch code. The system says CLEARED or HELD. No paperwork. No guessing.
Abattoirs
Receive cleared batches, record intake, log slaughter results. Full chain preserved.
Inspectors & Public
Scan any ear tag from anywhere to see where that animal came from and what its status is.
Why It Matters
This is about compliance, not tracking
Electronic signatures under ECTA 2002. Every vet certificate signed on this platform is legally binding and court-admissible. The same law that governs all electronic transactions in South Africa.
The gate is the critical control point. Animals that arrive without a valid, signed VHC are held. The abattoir doesn't have to make that call — the system already made it.
Individual animal identity. Every animal on the platform has an ear tag number and optional RFID. Anyone can scan a tag in a field, on a truck, or at a slaughter line and see the full history instantly.
We don't compete with existing systems. We complete the circle. If data already exists in other industry systems, this platform works alongside them — not against them.
