One record. Every event.

The Animal Passport aggregates every recorded event for a registered animal: registration, batch assignments, veterinary approvals, movement permits, health certificates, gate arrival records, slaughter events, and results. It is the permanent audit trail — available to authorised operators at any point in the chain.

Full Event Timeline
Every state transition — from REGISTERED through to RESULTS_RECORDED — is timestamped and linked to the responsible operator or authority. The timeline cannot be edited after confirmation.
Certificate Archive
Movement permits and health certificates issued during the animal's lifecycle are stored as artefacts in the passport record. Reference numbers, issuing authority and issue date are recorded.
Ownership History
Every transfer of ownership — including auction transfers and private sales — is recorded as a dated event in the passport. The chain of custody is complete from registration to slaughter.
Access & Authority

Who can see the record.

The animal passport is accessible to authorised operators holding the relevant role in the chain. Farm operators see their herd records. Veterinarians see the health and movement history of animals they are approving. Abattoir operators see the complete intake record on arrival. Livestock OS records authenticated electronic approvals and timestamps. The legal status and required signature method for each certificate remain subject to the applicable legislation, permit conditions and acceptance by the relevant authority.

Role-Based Access
Farm, vet, transporter, abattoir and admin roles each have defined access to the passport record. Role assignment is controlled by system administrators.

Audit Log
All read and write access to passport records is logged with user ID, role and timestamp. The log is immutable.
