Breed Societies &
Studbook Registries.
Breed societies are the authoritative custodians of pedigree and performance data for South Africa's registered livestock breeds. Livestock OS is designed to interface with breed society records — not to replace them. Data exchange pathways require formal agreement and partner onboarding.
How Livestock OS connects to breed records.
Livestock OS does not operate as an alternative studbook. It operates as a movement and compliance layer. When an animal with a breed society registration number moves through the chain, its studbook identity is recorded alongside its movement history. The primary studbook record remains with the breed society. The movement, compliance, and health record lives in Livestock OS.
Where we are now.
Breed society integration is in the proposal and partnership development phase. No formal data-sharing agreements are currently in place. Individual stud operations can register animals in Livestock OS now — breed society studbook integration will be added as societies onboard.

If you represent a breed society or studbook registry and want to explore how Livestock OS can interface with your data, we want to talk. Integration is built on formal agreement, not assumption.
