INDUSTRY & GOVERNMENT

State veterinarians, government structures and industry bodies are authorities within the livestock compliance chain. Livestock OS operates within their mandate — not above it.

Positioning

Authority remains with the regulator.

Livestock OS is a digital control layer, not a regulatory authority. Certificate and movement validity rules are applied according to the relevant disease-control protocol, permit conditions, species, origin, destination and authorised veterinary requirements. The system supports compliance — it does not replace or override the mandate of state veterinarians, the Department of Agriculture or any regulatory body.

State Veterinarians
State vets issue movement permits and health certificates under the Animal Diseases Act 35 of 1984. Livestock OS records these documents as compliance artefacts in the batch workflow. State vet contact data is represented across nine provinces as reference data — not as a live integration or endorsement.
Department of Agriculture
Livestock OS applies movement rules consistent with national disease-control requirements. Any formal integration with government systems requires a formal agreement and is not currently in place.
Industry Bodies
Industry associations, breed societies and producer organisations play an important role in livestock standards. Livestock OS is open to structured engagement with industry bodies through a formal partnership pathway.
Current Status

What exists today.

V001 Live
State Vet Reference Data
State veterinary contact data represented across nine provinces, used as reference for permit routing and compliance documentation. This is reference data — not a live connection to any government system.
Partnership Required
RMIS Integration
Integration with the national RMIS livestock identification system is a proposed integration pathway. It requires formal agreement with the relevant authority. No current integration exists.
Partnership Required
Government Data Exchange
Any live data exchange with government systems requires a formal data-sharing agreement, security assessment and regulatory approval. This is an open pathway — not a current capability.
Industry & Government

Built within the mandate.

Livestock OS was designed to support the existing regulatory framework — not to circumvent it. If you represent a government structure, industry body or regulatory authority and want to understand how Livestock OS operates, we welcome the conversation.
