OWNERSHIP TRANSFER
Every sale, auction or gift is a transfer of legal custody. Livestock OS creates the structured record of this transfer — linking buyer, seller, animal or batch, and the documentary evidence of the transaction.

Ownership transfer is a core compliance event. The moment an animal changes hands, the chain of custody must be updated — or the next movement will be blocked by a mismatch between record owner and presenting operator. Manual transfer recording is available now. The full structured transfer workflow is a planned capability currently in development.
Seller Confirmation
The transferring party confirms the sale — linking the buyer identity, the price reference (optional), and the transfer date to the animal or batch record. Livestock OS records authenticated electronic approvals and timestamps. The legal status of each transfer remains subject to the applicable legislation and acceptance by the relevant authority.
Buyer Registration
The receiving party is registered as the new owner in the animal's passport record. Their farm details are linked, enabling movement documentation to be generated from the correct origin for the onward journey.
Auction Integration
For auction transfers, the sale event triggers the ownership update. This is a planned integration — not currently live. Manual transfer recording is available for auction operators with system access.
